Popeye's chicken doesn't even list the chicken sandwich as an item you can purchase individually. All they list on their display in the drive thru is combo meals. You have no idea how scared I was today when I spoke into the microphone and said I just wanted a chicken sandwich. The guy said "what side do you want with that?" I said, "I just want one chicken sandwich, that's it." There was a huge pause that seemed like about 20 seconds, then he returned with the comment "spicy or mild?" I nearly drove away at the 18 second point. I could picture him inside with his hands grasping his head, staring at a point on the ceiling, trying to keep his composure after my "just the sandwich" request. I almost said "it doesn't matter" when he asked if I wanted spicy or mild. I just didn't want to upset him by saying the wrong thing. I didn't make eye contact when I pulled up to the window. I just took my sandwich and paid him the money; which by the way was about 10 cents less than if I would have got the combo.

The same thing happened to me when the cop said "paper or plastic?". I can totally relate!
