Back in the saddle again

427 days ago was the last time I laced up my skates. Ten minutes into that game I injured my back and felt pain that no person has probably ever felt - well except for those people in Guantanamo Bay. I was laid out on a couch for three days. I didn't stand on my feet for three days. Anyway, I summoned the courage today to lace up my skates once again. I spent about 30 minutes pushing myself, taking long strides, twisting my back, stopping on a dime, all those things that might make my muscles snap and my bones shatter. I am 35 years old after all. The good news - I feel great. No pain what-so-ever, and I've still got my hop. I live about 5 minutes from the practice ice for the Charlotte hockey team, and plan to get back on a league at that facility. This time I get to join the 35 and over league. I'm going to be a hotshot once again. Me so happy.

That sounds a lot like an injury I suffered once. Except I wasn't such a baby about it.
